Overview

SWIMP (Sweden International Improv Festival) is an international festival of improvised theatre first held in 2015 at Reginateatern in Uppsala, Sweden. Produced by local troupe Teater Prego, the festival features shows ranging from short-form games to long-form narrative performances at the historic Reginateatern, a 230-seat theatre designed by architect Gunnar Leche in 1925. The festival emphasizes equal gender representation and meaningful artistic exchanges across borders; during its first three years, participants from 17 countries took part.

SWIMP26 runs four nights in April 2026, with evening shows starting at 19:00. The surrounding block of Trädgårdsgatan is nicknamed "Improv Street" during the festival, with workshop venues and social spots all within walking distance.

Workshops

SWIMP26 offers 15 workshops across all four festival days at three venues: Reginateatern, Sprakateatern, and Kulturhuset Grand. Topics range from longform and musical improv to physicality and show design, with instructors from across Europe and beyond. Workshops are designed for both beginners and experienced improvisers, with tickets available via Billetto.
