The Detroit Improv Festival (DIF) is an annual improv comedy festival based at Go Comedy! Improv Theater in Ferndale, Michigan, expanding to Hamtramck for DIF 13. Founded in 2011 and produced by the Detroit Improv Collective, Inc. (DICo), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the festival brings together local and national improv troupes for a multi-day celebration of spontaneous, unscripted comedy.
DIF draws performers from cities including Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York, with programming ranging from longform to shortform improv. The festival features live performances, workshops led by acclaimed instructors, and community events including meetups, panels, and parties.
DIF 13 features 40+ groups across three venues in Ferndale and Hamtramck, including HERE: The (Improvised) Musical, Steamed Hams, Stir Friday Night, The Brothers Jacokes, Spitfire, and Da Bureau. Tickets $25-30 via GoPassage; a $220 Festival Pass covers all shows.
Submissions for DIF 13 closed April 30, 2026.
