Das Improv Festival is Berlin's alternative improv festival, founded in 2019 and held annually since its return in 2023 after a COVID pause. The festival showcases high-quality long-form improvised comedy in English for an international audience, with a focus on grounded and game-based styles including long-form musical improv. Its guiding principles are "Truth and Game."
Produced by Das Improv Collective zur Forderung von Improvisationstheater e.V., a nonprofit formed in 2024, the festival hosts 50+ teams from around the world across two venues in Berlin's Neukölln neighborhood: Comedy Café Berlin (Roseggerstr. 17) and Ida Nowhere (Donaustr. 79), both within a 5-minute walk of each other. All proceeds support headliner compensation and festival production. The festival held the EFFE Label (2024-2025) from the European Festivals Association.
Three headliners announced for 2026: Convoy (LA trio, 20-year UCB veterans), Heinous (queer trio Oscar Montoya, Lou Gonzalez Jr., and Amanda Breen), and WeirDass (Stephnie Weir and Bob Dassie).
The festival offers 16 workshops covering everything from musical improv to voice-over work, for beginners to advanced players. Workshop registration opens to the general public on 25 August 2026, at CCB Studios (Hasenheide 12). The schedule is still being finalized.
